I have been going to Dermalene Ampang for over a year. In the beginning, my experience was very positive, the staff were welcoming and I saw noticeable improvements in my skin after the first few sessions.
However, over the past few months, the service has become increasingly inconsistent and disappointing.
Appointment follow-ups were poorly managed. The usual gap between sessions was 2–4 weeks, but there was one instance where the gap extended to 2 months. What was more concerning was that during my next consultation, I was asked why the gap was so long. In my opinion, the clinic should have been more aware and responsible for managing client follow-ups. Due to the long delay, my skin condition worsened and I was unable to proceed with my planned skin resurfacing session.
Hygiene has also been a concern. On several occasions, the facial headband had an unpleasant smell and felt like it had not been properly washed. I only raised this issue on the third occurrence. There was also one session where the water used to rinse my face had a noticeable smell, which made me question whether it was properly filtered. For a skin treatment centre, hygiene and cleanliness should never be compromised.
I also noticed that whenever my package was nearing completion, the treatments felt rushed and less detailed, with minimal explanation and what seemed like certain steps being shortened or skipped. It gave the impression that the level of professionalism changed once a client’s package was almost finished.
Another disappointing point is that their facial treatments do not include extractions for acne, whiteheads, or blackheads. These are charged separately. In most facial treatments elsewhere, extractions are typically included as part of the service. Having to pay additional fees for something that is generally standard makes the packages feel even less worth the price.
Additionally, there has been a frequent change of consultants in recent months. When I previously had the same consultant consistently, the results were much better. Now, having to repeatedly explain my skin history makes me question whether there is proper understanding and continuity of care.
Regarding pricing and promotions, I find the packages to be expensive. Each time there is a “promotion,” the price appears to be the same as what was previously advertised in their pamphlets. This creates skepticism about whether the original price is genuinely different from the so-called discounted price. The lack of pricing transparency makes it difficult to feel confident about the packages being offered.
I am writing this review because I have personally seen the potential of this place in the beginning. However, the inconsistency in service, hygiene concerns, weak follow-up management, additional hidden costs, and questionable pricing transparency have significantly reduced my confidence.
